Professional Conservatory Cleaning in Dorset Roof, Glass, Frames & Gutters; Restored.
Years of algae, atmospheric grime and moss build-up stripped from the roof panels, frames and glazing, inside and out where access allows, so you can see out again and the whole extension looks part of the house, not tacked on. Softwash chemistry on the plastics, careful pressure on the glass, gutters cleared as standard.

The Service
What this job actually involves.
A conservatory clean is a softwash of the roof panels (polycarbonate or glass), a hand or brush wash of the uPVC frames and finials, and a full clean of the glazing units and their rubbers. Gutters and downpipes on the extension are cleared out and rinsed through at the same time. The result is a conservatory that looks like it did the day it went up, bright frames, clear roof, natural light flooding back in.
Who it's for
Homeowners whose conservatory roof has gone green, whose frames are streaked or algae-stained, or who can't see out of the top of the glazing any more. Also useful before selling, a clean, bright conservatory adds noticeably to first impressions.
When you need it
If daylight through the roof looks dim compared to five years ago, if the roof panels are visibly green from below, if the frames are yellowing with algae rather than age, or if gutters on the conservatory are overflowing, it's time.
Why it needs a specialist
Conservatory roofs need soft chemistry and careful handling. Pressure washing polycarbonate scores the surface, encourages faster re-soiling and can force water through seals. Domestic detergents streak uPVC. A specialist knows which chemistry sits on which material safely, and where to apply water pressure versus where to keep it soft.
How we quote
For most work we prefer to visit in person so the quote is accurate, no online guesswork. Roof cleans can also be quoted from satellite imagery when a visit isn't convenient. Payment is on completion, cash or bank transfer, no deposits.
Why Waiting Costs More
Left untreated, small problems get expensive.
A neglected conservatory doesn't just look tired, the algae layer traps moisture against seals and dramatically cuts the light passing through the roof. Left long enough, the panels stain permanently.
What happens if it's ignored
Green algae on polycarbonate roof panels blocks daylight, the room feels dark and unwelcoming even in summer.
Moss build-up in the gaps between roof panels holds water against the rubber seals; over time this leads to leaks, especially in wind-driven rain.
Yellowed and stained uPVC frames make the whole extension look aged, even when the fabric of it is sound.
Blocked conservatory gutters overflow onto the frames and glazing, streaking them with dirt and staining the sealant.
Bird droppings and tree sap on the roof become permanent if not removed within a season.
Common DIY mistakes
Blasting the roof with a pressure washer, scores polycarbonate and can force water past seals.
Using standard glass cleaner on the frames, streaks the uPVC and doesn't lift algae.
Ignoring the gutters when cleaning the roof, dirt just washes back onto the frames.
Bleach-based cleaners on painted or coated finials, strips the finish.
Cleaning the roof from inside only, the outside is where 90% of the grime lives.
Our Process
A methodical system, not a rushed hose-down.
01
On-site inspection
We assess the roof material (polycarbonate, glass or solid), frame condition, seal condition and access. Written quote before any work starts.
02
Gutter clearance
Conservatory gutters and downpipes cleared first, no point cleaning the roof if debris is going to wash straight back down onto it.
03
Roof softwash
Low-pressure softwash chemistry applied to roof panels and ridge, dwelled, then rinsed thoroughly. Kills algae and moss at the root without abrading the surface.
04
Frames and finials
uPVC frames, bargeboards and finials hand-washed with a purpose-made cleaner, algae and atmospheric grime lifted without streaking.
05
Glass and rinse
Glazing units rinsed and cleaned with pure water where possible, seals inspected. Final walk-round and photos on completion.
The Payoff
What you actually get for the money.
Daylight restored
A clean polycarbonate or glass roof puts noticeably more natural light back into the room, usually the whole reason for having a conservatory in the first place.
Roof panels last longer
Regular cleaning stops algae etching into the surface and stops moss holding water against the seals, the two things that shorten roof lifespan.
Bright white frames
uPVC frames back to their original white, not yellowed or algae-stained. The extension looks part of the house again, not tacked on the back.
Gutters flowing
Conservatory gutters and downpipes cleared as part of the job, so wind-driven rain drains properly and doesn't overflow onto the frames.
No pressure damage
Softwash chemistry on the roof and frames, no scored polycarbonate, no forced-open seals, no bleached-out finials.

Before-and-after photos walked through on completion, so you can see exactly what was done and why.

Every surface behaves differently under pressure, water temperature and chemistry. Here's the technical detail behind the work, the reason we don't quote sight-unseen for most jobs.
Roof types we handle
Polycarbonate multi-wall roofs are the most common and the most sensitive, they need soft chemistry and low-pressure rinsing to avoid surface scoring. Glass conservatory roofs take a firmer clean but still benefit from a softwash on the surrounding uPVC. Solid tiled conservatory roofs are handled as a small roof clean, softwash biocide, gutter clear, fascia and soffit wash-down.
The finials, ridges and roof-to-house junction are the details that make or break the finish. We hand-clean these areas rather than relying on a rinse pass, so algae in the shaped detail actually comes off. Painted or coated finials get a chemistry check first, some finishes don't tolerate strong cleaner and need a gentler approach.
Gutter clearance included
Conservatory gutters block quickly, the low pitch and proximity to trees or wall-mounted debris means they fill with leaves, moss and grit within a season. We clear them by hand from a ladder or platform, flush the downpipe through, and check the outlet at the house junction. Not an add-on, part of every conservatory clean.

How much does conservatory cleaning cost in Dorset?
Priced per conservatory based on size, roof material, access and how long since it was last cleaned. Book a free on-site quote, we'll measure and give you a firm price in writing before any work starts.
Will pressure washing damage a polycarbonate roof?
Standard pressure washing can score polycarbonate and force water past seals. That's why we use softwash chemistry with low-pressure rinsing on polycarbonate roofs, never a rotary head or high-pressure fan.
Do you clean the inside of the roof too?
Where safe access allows, yes, usually the inside is much lighter dirt and just needs a wipe-down. The heavy work is on the outside. We'll discuss access on the day.
How long does a conservatory clean take?
Most residential conservatories are half a day. Larger orangeries or heavily neglected roofs can run to a full day.
How often should a conservatory be cleaned?
Once a year in exposed positions, every 18 months on sheltered or south-facing conservatories. Regular cleaning is much cheaper than letting the algae etch in.
Do you clean the gutters at the same time?
Yes, conservatory gutters and downpipes are cleared as standard, included in the price. No point cleaning the roof if the gutter is going to wash debris back down.
Will the frames come back to bright white?
In most cases yes. Very old, heavily oxidised uPVC may retain some yellowing that's baked into the plastic itself, we'll be honest about the likely finish at the quote stage.
