Professional Fascia & Soffit Cleaning in Dorset UPVC Back to Bright White: Safely, from Ground Level.

The white plastic that runs the eaves of every modern Dorset home turns green, streaky and grubby faster than any other exterior surface, and it's the one nobody looks at until it's obvious. We restore fascias, soffits and bargeboards without ladders on the walls and without damaging the surrounding roof or gutters.

The Service

What this job actually involves.

Fascia and soffit cleaning is the exterior detail work most homeowners forget. Fascia boards run horizontally along the roofline, holding the gutter. Soffits are the horizontal panels tucked under the eaves. Bargeboards run up the gable ends. All of them collect algae streaks, atmospheric grime, moss shedding from the roof and general road dirt, and they're the trim that visually frames the whole house. Cleaning them properly transforms the appearance of a property.

Who it's for

Homeowners with green-streaked fascias below the guttering; landlords tidying between tenancies; anyone preparing a home for sale, valuation or letting photography; commercial and multi-unit sites where the trim is the visible weathering of the whole facade.

When you need it

Green tinge along the fascia line, streaks below hopper heads or gutter joints, algae banding on bargeboards, obvious two-tone between the fascia and the wall, all easy fixes if caught early. UPVC that's been left for a decade develops chalking that no clean fully reverses, so sooner is better.

Why it needs a specialist

Fascia and soffit work sits right at the eaves, full working-at-height territory. Standard practice used to mean leaning a ladder against the plastic (which snaps it) or against the gutter (which distorts it). Modern water-fed pole systems clean fascias from ground level, reaching two-storey eaves without ladders on the walls, without risk to gutters, and without the health-and-safety issues of ladder work.

How we quote

For most work we prefer to visit in person so the quote is accurate, no online guesswork. Roof cleans can also be quoted from satellite imagery when a visit isn't convenient. Payment is on completion, cash or bank transfer, no deposits.

Why Waiting Costs More

Left untreated, small problems get expensive.

Fascias and soffits are the exterior detail everyone forgets until they stand across the road and realise how bad it's got. Left long enough, cleaning stops being fully effective and you're into replacement territory.

What happens if it's ignored

  • Chalking sets into UPVC that's been exposed and uncleaned for a decade or more, visible surface degradation that no clean fully reverses.
  • Algae streaks running down from soffits mark walls and render below, spreading the problem downward season by season.
  • Debris caught behind fascia boards and soffits can create damp bridges into the roof structure, a maintenance issue turns into a repair issue.
  • Discoloured fascias visibly age a home. In sale photos and valuations they're one of the first things noted alongside a mossy roof.
  • On commercial buildings, streaky fascias set the tone across a whole facade, customers notice trim before they notice walls.

Common DIY mistakes

  • Leaning a ladder against UPVC fascia. It snaps the board, distorts the gutter and often takes the paint off the soffit behind it.
  • Using abrasive scourers or wire wool on white UPVC. Permanently scours the surface, so future dirt bonds into the scratched finish.
  • Applying bleach directly onto UPVC. Discolours the material, especially the older tinted (ivory or cream) profiles.
  • Cleaning fascias but ignoring the gutter and downpipe drip patterns. Streaks return exactly where the water runs unless the source is addressed.
  • Trying to reach two-storey eaves from a domestic ladder. It's genuinely dangerous and, on modern semi-detached homes in Poole and Bournemouth, the pitch and eave overhang make ladder work borderline unsafe.
Our Process

A methodical system, not a rushed hose-down.

01

Ground-level inspection

We check fascia, soffit and bargeboard condition, identify streak causes (usually gutter or hopper drips), and quote in writing before starting.

02

Water-fed pole set-up

Extendable pole with a soft brush head and pure-water feed reaches the full eave from ground level, no ladder against the plastic.

03

Clean & brush

Soft-bristle brush plus pure water lifts algae, atmospheric grime and streaking without scoring the UPVC finish. Pure water rinses clean without spotting.

04

Detail work

Bargeboards, gutter faces, downpipes and any painted timber detailing all cleaned in the same visit, no missed sections.

05

Walk-around & payment

Ground-level walk-around with the owner, before-and-after photos, payment on completion by cash or bank transfer.

The Payoff

What you actually get for the money.

Ground-level, no ladders on the wall

Water-fed pole system reaches two-storey eaves from the ground, no ladders against fascia, no gutter distortion, no working-at-height hazards.

Pure-water finish

Filtered pure water rinses clean without leaving spots, so fascias dry to a bright white finish without a follow-up wipe.

Bright white restored

UPVC comes back close to its original finish, a dramatic before-and-after that transforms the way a whole house looks.

Detail included

Fast, low-disruption

Most domestic properties are a same-day job. No scaffolding, no long set-up, no mess.

Pairs with roof cleaning

Included with every roof clean at no extra cost. Book them together for the biggest visual impact.

Deep Detail

Materials, methods and variations we handle.

Every surface behaves differently under pressure, water temperature and chemistry. Here's the technical detail behind the work, the reason we don't quote sight-unseen for most jobs.

Surfaces we clean

White UPVC is by far the most common, fitted to virtually every modern home in Dorset. Tinted UPVC (ivory, oak, cream, anthracite) needs the same method but different care around bleach-based products. Painted timber fascias on older properties respond well provided the paint film is sound. Composite and cellular PVC trims sit somewhere between UPVC and timber. Bargeboards, running vertically up gable ends, are usually the dirtiest section on any house because they take the direct edge-of-roof runoff.

Water-fed pole vs ladders, the method that changed the trade

Twenty years ago fascia cleaning meant a ladder against the plastic. Now the industry standard is a water-fed pole system, a telescopic carbon-fibre pole with a soft brush head, fed with filtered pure water. Pure water is aggressive against dirt (nothing dissolved in it, so it lifts contamination readily) and dries spotless. The pole reaches full two-storey eaves from ground level, meaning no ladder against fragile UPVC, no gutter distortion, and no working-at-height risk on straightforward domestic jobs. This is what a properly-equipped Dorset cleaning firm looks like today.

Why streaks come back if the gutter isn't right

Nine times out of ten, streaks below fascia and soffit come from gutter overflow, hopper leaks, or a downpipe joint that's letting go. Cleaning the fascia perfectly won't stop the streaks returning if the water source is still there. Part of every clean is looking at where the runoff is coming from and being honest about whether it's a maintenance job first. If it is, we'll say so, even though gutter repair isn't our trade, and can recommend someone if needed.

Included with roof cleans

We don't take standalone gutter clearing bookings, but every roof clean we do includes a full fascia, soffit and bargeboard wash plus gutter clear-out. It doesn't make sense to clean a roof and leave the trim below streaked or the gutters blocked. Booking a roof and fascia clean together gives the property the single biggest visual improvement per pound spent, and it's the combination customers most often photograph before and after for sale listings.

Residential vs commercial

Domestic fascia cleaning is typically a same-day job, sometimes a half-day for smaller bungalows. Commercial and multi-unit work (small office blocks, retail parades, care homes) is scheduled around access and trading hours; MEWP hire is sometimes used where the eave height exceeds pole reach. Full RAMS, insurance certificates and PO invoicing on all commercial work.

Something not covered here? Send us a message or call Adam directly, most enquiries get a reply within 30 minutes during contact hours (7:30am – 8pm, 7 days).

How much does fascia and soffit cleaning cost?

Priced per property based on eave length, storeys and condition. Book a free on-site quote for a firm written price. Included at no extra cost when booked with a roof clean.

Do you use ladders or a water-fed pole?

Water-fed pole from ground level for domestic properties, safer for the fascia, safer for us, faster and cleaner. Ladders and MEWPs used only where genuinely required.

Will cleaning damage the UPVC?

No, soft brush head, pure water rinse, no abrasives or bleach-based chemistry. UPVC comes back to a bright finish without scoring the surface.

How long does it take?

Most domestic properties are a same-day or half-day job. Larger properties and commercial work is scheduled individually.

Can you clean gutters and downpipes too?

Yes, gutter faces, downpipes and painted rainwater goods all cleaned in the same visit. Full gutter clear-out is included when this is booked alongside a roof clean.

Why do the streaks keep coming back?

Usually a leaking gutter joint, hopper crack or blocked downpipe channelling water down the fascia. Cleaning fixes the visible problem, fixing the water source stops it recurring. We'll be honest at inspection about which is at play.

Do you clean tinted (ivory, oak, anthracite) UPVC?

Yes, same method, careful chemistry choice to avoid discolouring. Tinted UPVC is more sensitive to bleach-based cleaners so we use appropriate alternatives.

Can you clean painted timber fascias?

Yes if the paint film is sound. If the paint is flaking or blistering, cleaning will highlight that, we'll advise whether a clean or a repaint is the right call.

How often should fascias be cleaned?

Every 2–3 years for most Dorset homes. North-facing or tree-shaded properties benefit from annual cleans; south-facing homes can stretch longer.

How quickly can you book me in?

Adam replies within 30 minutes during contact hours. Fascia cleans are usually scheduled within 1–2 weeks depending on weather.
